Computer Specialist: Yunde Shi

Yunde Shi obtained his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and Automation (Mechatronics) from Shanghai Jiao Tong University (UM-SJTU Joint Program) in 2008. His undergraduate thesis was on the Dynamic Modeling and Simulation of Escalator Systems During Accident Situations, a particularly relevant issue in crowded subway stations. Then he joined the Control System Lab at Columbia University for the M.S. program where he currently studies robotics and adaptive learning and optimal control with Prof. Richard W. Longman. Yunde Shi is interested in applying his theoretical knowledge and instrumentation skills to develop useful devices to improve the human condition. In the Clinical Motor Physiology Laboratory, Yunde will help create new software code and hardware interfaces to control devices to measure normal and abnormal human motor activity, as well as update existing motor physiological acquisition and analysis systems.
